Specialist Tuition and Dyslexia Support

£42.50

Kathryn employs a specialist teaching programme following ‘Conquering Literacy’ (Kelly, K. and Phillips, S 2016).  This programme has been designed to support learners with Dyslexia.  It uses a method called “Linguistic Phonics.” Unlike traditional phonics, which often focuses on letter names and rules, linguistic phonics focuses on teaching the sounds (phonemes) or spoken language and how they map to letters and spelling patters.  An initial assessment will be completed to establish a starting point, and an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) will be created for the learner.

The lessons cover-

·      Phonemic awareness

·      Decoding (reading unfamiliar words by sounding them out)

·      Encoding (spelling through sound-letter mapping)

·      Word and sentence writing

·      Reading and fluency and comprehension (later stages)
